About the Class
In Jung's psychology, the goal of individuation is the realisation of the Self. To begin we are oblivious to the greater Self, but then once we have become lost and begin to search in earnest, we inevitably stumble upon this Self.
Nowhere is this process more simply laid out than in the Zen Ox Herding Pictures, a series of Zen Buddhist parables, with accompanying illustrations.
From searching for the Ox through to finding, leading, and transcending the Ox, and then re-entering the Marketplace, the ten steps document the ego's encounter with the greater Self.
In this session, we will explore the ten steps, the associated pictures, the parables and the challenges of each stage.
