Jungian Dream Analysis - Settings & Landscapes
$
A dream will speak in a language rich with symbolism. When you understand this language, the dream makes sense. Otherwise, it appears meaningless, gibberish even.
For example, a dream will often begin “I am with a certain person in a certain place”. To the layperson, this scenario might appear pointless. Yet this is the dream's way of identifying its area of interest. What have you in common with that person? Or how are you with them? And what is the character of the setting?
Another common dream phrase is “I’m back at ….”. Here the question becomes in what way have you gone back? Are you operating out of an old mode of being?
If you are in a vehicle being driven by another person, in what way has their approach taken control?
Dreams are full of such figurative statements which are not to be taken literally.
Learning the language of dreams is like studying any new language. Although dream interpretation is a lifelong study, one must begin with the basics.
This class serves as an introduction to dreamwork, with a focus on the symbolism of environments, landscapes, situations, movements, people, and animals. We will also look at one or two dreams from the group.
